Gone in 60 Seconds (the 2000 remake), is an action movie about a retired master car thief who has to steal 50 cars with his crew in one night to save his brother’s life – V8 cars, race against the clock and, well, Nicolas Cage – all help make it a memorable action feast.

Here is a pen & ink drawing I did yesterday (using the film poster as a reference, with my own interpretations thrown in):

Pen & ink drawing of Nicolas Cage
A little background

‘Eleanor’ (the car) is a Mustang Shelby Cobra (coool) – in the poster you can’t see that she has the double set of head lights or the black stripe down the bonnet, so I took the liberty of adding them… The geometric line-work around the portrait is loosely inspired by car details (bolts, fenders, bumpers, wheels…).

I thought of filming the drawing process, but decided I’d probably knock the camera over :P (I do think many of the speed drawing films on YouTube are amazing though, and it would be fun to give it a try some time) –  instead I took a few photos to show a couple of the stages before the drawing was finished:

That’s what I think! Great looks, nerves of steel, amazing driver – what more can a girl want?? ;) (thank you)

Great drawing. 50 cars in one night; he must have had nerves of steel!
