art forms
We have art so that we shall not die of reality – Nietzsche
My artistic background includes 8 years full-time study (obtaining a diploma of fine arts at East Sydney – National Art School in 1995), studying (and later working in a variety of artistic fields) has given me the opportunity to explore a variety of mediums including ceramics, textile-screen-printing, print-making & photography.
Drawing
Drawing is connected to so many aspects of art; filling up sketch books (and finding new sketch books to fill) is such a soul-happy activity on its own. Drawing for me, is often about keeping a visual diary, where some sketches later form the starting point for paintings or other work. Larger drawings and more detailed drawings are a joy to work on, yet at times messy as I prefer to work with charcoal.
Painting
Painting for me is about exploring form, texture and colour. Each painting or body of work is a journey where I find new things along the way. I currently mainly paint using oils, as I find the texture and behaviour of these paints both flexible and inspiring.
Design
Bright and colourful illustrations, cartoons, layouts for web pages, logos and other on-screen projects are all areas of design I enjoy working in.
